MARCY ARLIN: DIRECTOR

Marcy is Founder and Artistic Director of  Immigrants’ Theatre Project (ITP) since 1988, where she has directed over 20 productions and developed over 200 new plays nationally and internationally. She is an original member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, Core Member of Theatre without Borders, No Passport, and is Fulbright Senior Specialist 2005-09 to the Babes Bolyai University in Romania, and Masaryk University, Czech Republic.

Arlin has developed over 200 new plays nationally and internationally and has directed at the Public, New York Theater Workshop, LaMama, HERE, National Theatre of Romania, Dublin Fringe, 59E59, Mazer Theatre, LPAC, among other venues.

Most recently, she was Honoree at the 2009 American Immigration Council Conference.

HENRY ONG:  PLAYWRIGHT

Henry Ong is the author of Madame Mao’s Memories, based on the life of the infamous Jiang Qing, Chairman Mao Zedong’s widow.  Memories has been produced internationally and nationally, including the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.  His play, Fabric, about the Thai garment workers slavery case, is scheduled for production at Company of Angels, Los Angeles in July 2010.  Other works include The Legend of the White Snake, Odd Birds, and a six-hour adaptation of the Chinese classic Dream of the Red Chamber. Another adaptation Rachel Ray (from Anthony Trollope’s nineteenth-century novel) will be workshopped by Pacific Resident Theatre in January next year.  Plays for youth include Golden Flower Princess, Fire Boy, Lady White Snake and The Old Lady Who Popped Out of the Sidewalk and Became a Christmas Tree.  Ong is a 12-time recipient of the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department grants; his most recent being an oral history workshop project for the blind and visually-impaired at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles.  Ong is an active member of the Dramatist Guild; a member of Company of Angels, Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights, and Playwrights’ Ink; and an Artistic Associate of Playwrights’ Arena.  For more information, please check out his Web site, www.henryong.info.

ROBERT MONACO: SET DESIGNER

Robert hails from Long Island and has been designing scenery in the greater metropolitan area for almost ten years. Robert was nominated for an independent theater award for his design for THE PALOOKA in ‘06 and received a NYCFringe excellence in design award for KISS AND CRY in ‘05. Robert works as a carpenter and scenic artist for The Spoon Group and is an adjunct instructor at Marymount Manhattan College.

CHRISTOPHER WESTON: LIGHTING DESIGNER

Chris is a NYC based Lighting Designer.  Regional productions include Proof, Having Our Say, and The Color of Flesh.  International: T.E.L.O.S. (European Biennial in Athens, Greece).  New York theaters include the Kitchen, John Houseman, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 59E59, Cherry Lane 45th Street Theatre, Lamb’s Theatre, Center Stage/New York, Barrow Group, Theatre for the New City, HERE Arts Center, Raw Space, Connelly Theatre, Kraine Theatre, Mazer Theatre, Bank Street Theatre and the Old American Can Factory. Chris has been collaborating with Marcy Arlin and Immigrants’ Theatre Project since 2000.  From 1996-1999, he served as Artistic Director of Resistance Theater in Brooklyn, NY where he designed and directed his own original work, as well as works by others.


ELIZABETH RHODES: SOUND DESIGNER

New York credits include the world premiere of Steve Martin’s adaptation of The Underpants, the premieres of John Patrick Shanley’s Dirty Story and Sailor Song. LAByrinth credits include Stephen Belber’s A Small Melodramatic Story and Robert Glaudini’s Dutch Heart of Man. Other New York credits include Chuck Mee’s Paridise Park with dir. Daniel Fish (Signature); Philip Roth in Khartoum, and Sweet Storm (Public Lab); Future Me with original music by Stew (SPF); The Winter’s Tale with dir. Anna-Alisa holds an MFA from the Art and Design Academy St. Petersburg, Russia and an MFA in costume design from Brandeis University, Boston. Anna-Alisa has worked as a costume designer for Rebecca Kelly Ballet, The Juilliard School, Actor’s Shakespeare Project (MA), Philadanco (PA), Portland Stage Company (ME), Manhattan School of Music Opera Department, The New School for Drama, LAB Theater, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, Boston Playwrights Theater (MA), Modus Opera, Blessed Unrest Company both as set and costume designer. Since 2002, she is a resident costume designer for Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre. She worked on the Feature Film Kerosene Cowboys and for the Washington Ballet, Boston Ballet, the Santa Fe Opera, the American Repertory Theater, the Gotham Chamber Opera, Columbia University, the Milwaukee Ballet and Law and Order.

Nicole Marconi most recently assistant stage managed for Stageworks on the Hudson’s Play by Play: Crossroads. This past summer, she stage managed Charles Mee’s Coney Island Avenue at New York Theatre Workshop. Her previous stage managing credits include: Merrily We Roll Along (Riverdale Y),  An Evening of Don Nigro (Apothecary Theatre Company), Vine Tata: Daddy’s Coming (Queens Theater in the Park), Tiny Feats of Cowardice (Fringe Festival with New Georges), TRACES: fades (Ice Factory Festival at the Ohio Theater.) She also served as the technical director for Hastings on Hudson school system for the 2008-2009 academic year. Nicole holds a BA from SUNY Purchase in Drama Studies.

Don is a 3rd year MFA candidate in Dramaturgy at SUNY: Stony Brook.  SBU dramaturgy includes The Grapes of Wrath, Playboy of the Western World, and an untitled project about sibling relationships (currently in development).  Professional venues include The Contemporary American Theater Festival (Shepherdstown, WV), The Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center (Waterford, CT), and Young Playwright’s Inc. (NYC). He holds BAs in Theatre and Creative Writing from West Virginia University.
